Main reason for optimism is leapfrogging - thats when a society/place that was excluded from industrial age networks leapfrogs an old system to a new one thanks to 1000 times more COMstech than 1946; about a third of the world never had wired telephone lines, now almost all have mobile (text version); more than a quarter of the world never had electricity grids, now microsolar is linking in;. Even as the 1960s moon race inspired the world, we need to understand how unequal the opporttunity to innovate had been - even in the 1960s as many as half the world's people had no access to electricity grids so they got their news of the moon race by word of mouth.

Consider 1000-1500- until the last few years of this period , the known world was Europe-Asia and NE Africa; #BR8 the med sea was the main world trade waterway; places facing this sea increasingly developed win-win trades; moreover #BR7 the west asian border to med sea was the start of an amazing overland relay of traders which stretched all the way to china (the silk road was the greatest overland world trade route ever and to sustain its interfacing markets required positive cross-cultural bridging all along its route. Silks and spices from the Chinese end acted like a positive currency- there was much demand for them whose value naturally went up the further they were merchanted back to Europe. Everyone gained for this trading route- you can read marco polo's diaries- perhaps nowhere invested more in artistic celebrations of being a major hub of positive trade than his hometown venice in europe and the town he was asked to govern for 2 years in china Hangzhou which marco described as the great town of markets in the world.)

What happened towards 1500 that 2 long shipping routes were discovered by north europeans- the new world of the ameriucas to the west (#BR6 N, #BR10 what we now call Latin America), and a way of reaching the @BR2 South Asian coastal Belt (starting with the indian subcontinent) by sailing around africa. A ship captain couldnt affird such a long return voyage unless he goit what trade he wanted- soon this big ships were equipped with gun power and crews were pressganged or even enslaved. Next in the process was colonising. So it was that nations became big by pludering economies of other peoples places. Back in 1500 places economic size was corelated with population. Soon Britain grew at the expense particularly of the Indian subcontiuent. Mainly Britain and France colonised Africa too, Spain andPotrtugal colonised Latin America. North America was settled by a mixyure of Europeans whose declaration of Indendence in 1776 ended any attempt by Britain to colonise America, But we should note that the USA was built on a sort of internal colonisation - natives had theor places taken over and slaves were used to do most of the hard labour. In effect the old war's colonial ways casued the 2 world wars of the fkirst half of the 20th C. From 1946 most of the world's countries regained their independence but starting from (mainly undeveloped states - poverty that the colonia era had gtraped them in).

Ironically whule the UDA came to tghe resuce of the old workld and from 1946 helped relaunch the two biggest losers of world war 2 Germsny and Japan, american (not withstandiong thair family trees origins) had previously had little modern of knowledge of Eurasia but were pulled into peacekeeping and the cold war with russia through the sceond half of the 20th C. Whilst there was some understanding of the extraoerdinary progress japanese enginers made with electornics, civil and other enginnering, the rise and rise of the east and the often difficult bodrers that had been caused by British and Jpoanese colonisation of the region are not deeply studied by most Americans or their media. It should be the best news the world has ever seen that the fifth of the world in chjna tghat closed itself to the world for more than a centiry after Brfits has offered opium as a gtrading currency in 1860 is now as entrepreneurial as anywhere. With over half of tghe world's ;people facikng either the sout asia or east asia coastal belts, the opportunity the east is cfreating to win0pwin gtrade oin line with moore's ever increasing technology should make sustainable youth worlwdie the gfreatesty positive curency-invetsment the human race has ever mapped. But this is not how USA or the block of coungtriues ruled by the Euro have marketed transapfrently. Instead we are caught in the Keynsian crisis of economist not valuing the hippocratic oathes he had published as tghe final chapter of the ngeneral throy of employment money and interest. The 2020s are likely to make the system designs our tech spreads irreversible- will the end game be big brother extinction or little sister sustainability?

Miko, Daniel and friends
While I admire Cheng Li's 5 year diary 2017-2021 of china and the world's first lady (Peng) and first man (XI) i think its good for the world that their one child is a daughter

MEANWHILE it seems that:
Amy's narrative: is a tao messenger for the truth that if a place (its grandparents-parents-youth) is not building every community to be safer, more opportune for 10 year old girls its not going to be sustainable;

there is a maths that i worked on with MIT friends for a decade, which my father and my literature of valuing world class brands/communications has been founded on since 1989, when some administrative people say they have 17 goals what's actually the one metric that links in win**17; the 10 year old girl metric is the optimal today because an evil western macroeconomics spread since world war 2 designed to subliminally devalue 10 year old girls livelihoods- that the evil metric of the mba which was a curriculum founded around big banks and dirty mass media - ultimately its every error of slpinning round big brother's rule by fear instead of little sisters demand for Jack Ma's LQ - the Q of Love Alibaba Group Founder and Commissioner, Jack Ma, Shares His Thoughts on the #LearningGeneration Japan needs to think through how lucky its partnering opportunities are to be the first olympics mainly sponsored by al baba instead of by coca-cola (2 brands could not have more different dnas). What is Japan's equivalent of the C100 -maybe someone could guide me round the 19 stories of the other first 20 friends of japan  worldwide

this can also be valued as the pope francis message- see his speech to the european union on why are you designing the exact opposite; i hope its the essence of why xi jinping uses the word rejuvenation and i am sure its the essence of blockchain and other big data small enterprise web tech wizards

fortunately as peter witnessed at ford foundation 2 weeks ago-  unhabitat and goal 11 have just come round to that being their intangible metric of everything

Baltimore's Bangladeshs's Narrative
i say fortunately because down in baltimore an education system from age 0 to 24 is emerging that's core training is everyone who connects with supercity movements to value this metric of 10 year old girl empowerment- its essentially the metric that the greatest end extreme poverty network brac in bangladesh was built on

baltimore is where 4 black girls in 1881 liberated black people and women with a legal case which previously the declaration of independence had not clarified - that blacks and girls are people not things- the whole morality of the supreme court or whatevr positive values americans acts on goes back to this crossroads in history- and was most famously embodied in the life of Thurgood Marshall who community connectors of supercity Baltimore can make sustainability's champion in every pru-youth partnership

the lady who designed this metric into the redesign of corporate brac brand (at the same time that the queen of uk was knighting sir fazle abed) is visiting our baltimore friends the week before easter and she is one of amy's deepest supporters =indeed plan internationals 2 main pursuits are youth exchanges and surveying whether a place knows what 10 year old girls think of its safety

CHINAS NARRATIVE AND WORDWIDE SUSTAINABILTY  INVITATIONS :G20, One Belt, Suoercity/villages, EWTP, Climate & Health Collaboration $100 Graduate Degrees, Blockchain Consciousness of Servant Leaders Markets, Big Data Small Enterprise for all Open Spaces..

In terms of social actions sir fazle abed and baltimore's movement around what black gorls began are the same value system as pope francis and jim kim represent; I dont know confucius/tao well enough but i assume xi jiping wants to meet pope francis to check how they unite the futures of east south and rest of world

ultimately china and bangladesh are the two most heroic human development stories since 1972 but bangladesh did it with nothing whole china did it with the resource s of the diaspora and an extraordinary human history; marry the greatest human sport stories since 1972 with america's main liberty story since 1881 and chinese and worldwide youth have hope that sustainability will indeed be what their generation connects instead of ending planet earth

if and when you or friends are visiting washington dc please tell me so i can try and make sure you see baltimore people; just like kissinger asked c100 people to keep positive youth relationship going between china and usa no matter what trump does, baltimore's spirit and rejuvenation of the whole east coast will sustain far longer than whatever trump does

cheers chris http://1461.world
In any event whether you are organising guided tours to china aimed at lifetime friendships for students or big decision makers amy's peers have a common sense that doesnt need improving on - it needs open spacing with up to 5000 people simultaneously which is harrison owen's life work if i understand well.It comes from a culture of Anglican missionaries in Africa and observing how communities design in open circular decision making not top=down hierarchies. I dont claim to understand how such spirit is build 24/7/365 but you can see when and where a community builder is doing it if you are among the people - you cant ever see that through a tv screen (and i hope wizard technologists always stay grounded with mass open space experiences - or however the chinese describe action learning with the peoples not just commanding over)
