Reason for optimism is leapfrogging - thats when a society/place that was excluded from industrial age networks leapfrogs an old system to a new one; about a third of the world never had wired telephone lines, now almost all have mobile (text version); more than a quarter of the world never had electricity grids, now microsolar is linking in;. Dear Professor Gang
I am very excited to read of your student networks in green architecture http://universitydesign.asu.edu/db/sino-italian-tsinghua-environment-and-energy-efficient-building

Would it be possible to meet you or some of your student  for half an hour?- I am staying at hotel near tsinghua campus may 11 to 16

My fathers foundation and partners and I try to connect youth networks - china and globally - green architecture and italy are 2 passions of the students we link in

1 maurizio connects vatican youth-connected summits celebrating architects and other community builders
2 we are associated with new york's  global youth biannual architecture competition that has been running at UN for over 12 years and which chinese students provide strongest contributions to  International Council for Caring Communities
3 i was last in beijing to attend 4 talks given by romano prodi (former eu and italian pm) - he was a friend of my father norman macrae who worked at The Economist for most of the second half of 20th century and was the only journalist at messina when the EU was founded
4 I a huge fan of changsha's  Zhang Yue and probably the world's number 1 green building entrepreneur
5 clearly one belt forum and supercity youth exchanges need green architecture curricula to be understood by as many millennials as possible
Member Roster - Committee of 100 the greatest china-america friendship- network was founded by architect  IM Pei - while I dont know him myself I attend the committee of 100 summits and architect william lee at stanford is a very kind connector when students like amy have relevant questions
7 we have several friends closely connected with Boston MIT media and architect labs

with students we are always searching for how to learn from green architectures and smart engineering apps

sincerely
