i attended the 2000 delegate wise summit this week in qatar last week; a surprising place not at all how western media presents it; as you know qatar started the education laureates prize summit beginning with sir fazle abed in 2011; the education above all college as part of the campus of 20 college partnership run by qatar foundation is practically speaking way ahead in term of uniting partners concerned with refugees than any other summit network outside of china can be- qatar's first lady is very clear about global education being the scetor much of the oil money is going into
i chatted to sir fazle at the summit; the big news announced at the finale is that wise is partnering the un's guterrez in mother of all refugee elarning summits in spetember in new york sept 2018 as part of un start to year
wise has many national leaders support relevant to this including turkey whose first lady attended the wise summit while her husband was on two day state visit to qatar
the eminent un speakers panel was represented by the president of ghana and his countyrman was announced the laureate of 2017 for his leading model of african universities for the disdvantaged pioneered out of ghana and now being benchmarked by 12 african countries- before the wise un summit in may there will be a wise accra summit to celebrate the new university model and african football for all - ghana was the first country ever to play soccer- of course qatar as hosts of world cup has similar goals to jack mas as main sponsor of tokyo olympics
the question justin comes back to how core sir fazle is to the goals of gordon brown and other education commisisoners; from the point of view of gutterez, pope francis, china, india the rohingya crisis makes sir fazle's alumni networks absolutely critical
i aim in next 3 weeks to be going over to bangladesh to listen to what everyone around sir fazle at bracs ideas are; justin if you are not available anywhere to meet is there someone else concerned with edu commission goals i should be meeting?
i will be talking to the world bank dirfectoir for argentina on how all of this should fit with argentina g20 given the pope francis supreme concern for refugees; when he last spoke at the un his message wasnt where un delegations thought they should be focused; it now is!
