Even as the 1960s moon race inspired the world, we need to understand how unequal the opporttunity to innovate had been - even in the 1960s as many as half the world's people had no access to electricity grids so they got their news of the moon race by word of mouth.

Consider 1000-1500- until the last few years of this period , the known world was Europe-Asia and NE Africa; #BR8 the med sea was the main world trade waterway; places facing this sea increasingly developed win-win trades; moreover #BR7 the west asian border to med sea was the start of an amazing overland relay of traders which stretched all the way to china (the silk road was the greatest overland world trade route ever and to sustain its interfacing markets required positive cross-cultural bridging all along its route. Silks and spices from the Chinese end acted like a positive currency- there was much demand for them whose value naturally went up the further they were merchanted back to Europe. Everyone gained for this trading route- you can read marco polo's diaries- perhaps nowhere invested more in artistic celebrations of being a major hub of positive trade than his hometown venice in europe and the town he was asked to govern for 2 years in china Hangzhou which marco described as the great town of markets in the world.)

What happened towards 1500 that 2 long shipping routes were discovered by north europeans- the new world of the ameriucas to the west (#BR6 N, #BR10 what we now call Latin America), and a way of reaching the @BR2 South Asian coastal Belt (starting with the indian subcontinent) by sailing around africa. A ship captain couldnt affird such a long return voyage unless he goit what trade he wanted- soon this big ships were equipped with gun power and crews were pressganged or even enslaved. Next in the process was colonising. So it was that nations became big by pludering economies of other peoples places. Back in 1500 places economic size was corelated with population. Soon Britain grew at the expense particularly of the Indian subcontiuent. Mainly Britain and France colonised Africa too, Spain andPotrtugal colonised Latin America. North America was settled by a mixyure of Europeans whose declaration of Indendence in 1776 ended any attempt by Britain to colonise America, But we should note that the USA was built on a sort of internal colonisation - natives had theor places taken over and slaves were used to do most of the hard labour. In effect the old war's colonial ways casued the 2 world wars of the fkirst half of the 20th C. From 1946 most of the world's countries regained their independence but starting from (mainly undeveloped states - poverty that the colonia era had gtraped them in).

Ironically whule the UDA came to tghe resuce of the old workld and from 1946 helped relaunch the two biggest losers of world war 2 Germsny and Japan, american (not withstandiong thair family trees origins) had previously had little modern of knowledge of Eurasia but were pulled into peacekeeping and the cold war with russia through the sceond half of the 20th C. Whilst there was some understanding of the extraoerdinary progress japanese enginers made with electornics, civil and other enginnering, the rise and rise of the east and the often difficult bodrers that had been caused by British and Jpoanese colonisation of the region are not deeply studied by most Americans or their media. It should be the best news the world has ever seen that the fifth of the world in chjna tghat closed itself to the world for more than a centiry after Brfits has offered opium as a gtrading currency in 1860 is now as entrepreneurial as anywhere. With over half of tghe world's ;people facikng either the sout asia or east asia coastal belts, the opportunity the east is cfreating to win0pwin gtrade oin line with moore's ever increasing technology should make sustainable youth worlwdie the gfreatesty positive curency-invetsment the human race has ever mapped. But this is not how USA or the block of coungtriues ruled by the Euro have marketed transapfrently. Instead we are caught in the Keynsian crisis of economist not valuing the hippocratic oathes he had published as tghe final chapter of the ngeneral throy of employment money and interest. The 2020s are likely to make the system designs our tech spreads irreversible- will the end game be big brother extinction or little sister sustainability?

arctic and climate

here we colect live posts which time permitting we will tidy up at

9 march 2018 - at tufts artctic summit - discussion mediated with chiense students and frieds
dear YC- it was nice to briefly chat to you at lunch break during arctic summit and to quickly introduce you to max who coordinated the summit last year and whose co-founder ryan is still at tufts; i would happily come back any time to boston to see if we can connect friends of under 30s as the sustainability generation eg confucian institute? murrow media? other fletcher alumni ; mit etc

max and i live in washington dc; Belt Road Imagineer ( as a maths guy from the other cambridge in UK i try to collect data on at least 20 collaboration maps that chinese half a billion youth are connect with sustainability youth worldwide the BBCs  national geographic society's pristine seas and arctic broadcaster paul rose is one of my friends but he's quite hard to get

so i hope you can stay connected with max and me

much of what i look at is how tech is changing education and livelihoods- thats one of the things people like china's jack ma are best at because they analyse big data and help communities use it; jack has said that from tokyo olympics 2020 he will spend most of his time on climate education and health markets- he is already putting 15 billion dollars into worldwide branches of damo academy-  currently alibaba helps him train what will be 750 million chinese middle class make smart decisions in consumer and small business markets

all the students you know at tufts are most welcome to contact me if i can help find something out; i would particularly like to connect asian clusters; i realise that historically both taiwan and japan have had conflicts with china but climate needs all intelligent youth to connect; also alibaba has historically been mainly funded by japan and taiwan so jack ma can sometimes connect things that even jinping cant; conversely i find that china's tsinghua university i the best public servant university in the world; i hope we can arrange a tour there later this year

in shanghai i know the auditor of asian infrastructure investment bank and i am interested in the headquarters of:
shanghai cooperation organisation where russia and china have been collaborating for many years (yiyi of you could ask your korean student co-host whom I quickly met yesterday that would be great as  i trust moon jae-in 100 times more than trump to mediate north korea)

and the hq of the new development bank which connects all the brics -brazil russia india china south africa

moreover mr fu of has a platform for connecting up to 20000 students and teachers live; i would love to see him share his technology with arctic or climate youth; the next urgent timeline for education chinese partnerships is the united nations general assemble where guterres has asked educators to show the best stuff they have to empower communities and youth; additionally un ga september is the best time to get the japanese starting class of 2018-2019 prepare tokyo g20

so i am looking for which students can connect their un delegations and join some of the people i already know who are based in new york or help max

please feel free to ask questions or share with any students; i am happy to be used to find out things -there are a lot of risks and enemies to the discussions yesterday as well as a lot of opportunities; i have worked most of my life in big ad agencies and big auditing companies because i am an MA in statistics; manually i can usually see things in big data that i am now only too happy if we can find friends of jack ma to do much better than i can

cheers chris macrae linkedin unwomens mob 240 316 8157  washington dc

i would like you to meet max- he is pivotal to polar belt road graduates- now heading a consultancy in dc he graduated from tufts in boston; i am writing from their 7th annual arctic circle summits - lots of chinese and asian students connecting all of bostons colleges and the 8 countries which depend on the arctic circle - last year max as the main graduate hosts - so he knows all the speakers and student networks

i think there are huge positive connections between max's networks and both green thinktanks such as brookings at tsinghua, other ai thinktanks and branches of damo academy (one of yesterdays student pitches inspired by 2 years in the uae creates students exchanges around the world using augmented reality  so they can experience each others communities, distant learning networks eg fu's hujiang and anyone concerned with the belt road networks (basically all china neighbors with northern interests) from taiwan japan korea upwards- apparently most icebreakers are built in korea

there are a lot of other urgent things to discuss if india and china are to have optimal connections or if chinese best education changemakers are to maximise connectivity at the united nations general assembly summit guterres has requested in september 2018 or march 2019 macron educators summit in paris belt belt road 2.0 beijing may 2019

i am also wondering how to make sure china tech wizards maximise c100 santa clara meeting may 2019 - are you going this year?

best chris macrae

dear ian ,, friends
have you had a chance to get meeting with amanda (or if not her richard curtis team) -

what happened in beijing today has huge implications for girl empowerment and

happy to fly over if you like this new turn  -cgtn on may's spring -premier li - we invite britain to co-create a golden era with china where its always spring time

please see  first bookmark to curricula linking 100 cultures diversity need ,lots of help in editing links and stories) LEARNING NATION GAME OF FIVES

it is important from the british viewpoint that 80% of sustainability goals curricula are either published in english or chinese - as america is out of this process, brexit is an advantage if we get all of charles work included in sustainability dialogues between china and uk and worldwide teachers

may i suggest
amy and mostofa are chief editors on behalf of asian girls cultures as that is what sir fazle abeds family has asked them to do that

if we list the top countries jinping wants to unite bri wuth him most in 2018 then apoart from UK
india comes top - javeed is doing huge education work on that - ian i know that both you and I understand harpreet wants to be on a mission which her connections with a 15 million peoples movement of india needs to clarify

from 1500s british ships colonised the whole east to west trade route in ways that compounded poverty instead of free trade but also through brett wilson family founding the economist tried from 1860 to undo this disaster -so this scottish school of economics has 158 years of helping people redesign the main belt road route - my understanding of this is that

between 1000-1500 the med sea was the greatest trading sea in every way it is now the unhappiest with refugees

all western civilisations had grown up around this sea- perhaps it was climactically most suitable as well as alowing people to sail between europe asia and africa but then doing every trade overland as soon as traders reached the main asian continent

at the other end of the silk road marco polo celebrated hangzhou of jack ma as china's metahub presumably its yangtze river connects it with todays' shangaha; so hangzhou was like the med sea the natural eastern metahub of eurasia

unfortunately when sailors discovered they could go round africa to middle east india asean and china - their means of world trade became hostile, empire economics was zero-sum and big get bigger- after all sailing for hundreds of days was so unhealthy you used slaves as crew; and when you got to your destination port instead of asking what win-win trades you could do you colonised- the east india corporation was probably the nastiest corporation the world ever saw- its legacy in insisting china took opium for spices silks and porcelain was closing down chinese peoples dreams for over 100 years
the brits ruling the waves caused the greatest east west mischief - basically all along the coastline of the south of eurasia- so the brits both have the knowledge and the language to help china reconcile this if only prince charles and his children will stand up and say this is what the future of uk and china relationship can educationally connect -and start promoting 10 times less costly ways of learning english....

you can improve every cross cultural version of the above stories if you choose to include rome and dhaka and qatar- presumably the churches of the uk can host a dialogue on this - actually windsor castle has the best retreat in the country for hosting such a dialogue as i have experienced

camilo can add latin versions of this especially including south america; he and jayfus can find coders and electronic engineers capable of connecting world class english speaing coders of big data small with china

thorkil connects the number 1 health solutions network that many rich families of public servants want to be worldwide

you all can choose others who can linkin this greatest missing curriculum but in marketing something like this the race starts today and unless we massively open source exciting stories now people with a lot more money will start changing this curricula to something much less win-win and certainly much less likely to map how girls lift up half the world' and virtually all odf sustainability

fortunately brac runs the largest non-government primary school system and has invented mist of girls deepest solutions to sustainability communities

ed and bob have know how banaglesh started with the 2 leapfroging technologies in 1996 of mobile communication and microsolar' alvin hosts americas original black girls social justice movement out of baltimore and is assisted technically by jayfus. baltimore dindt comne in the first 20 in race to amazon hq2 though 3 spacs in tristate region remain in -does bezos want to use unite region to go post-trump;; who knows?

any errors are mine alone but please can everyone clarify
do you want to join in this - before deciding are there any clarifications needed?

; as i try to say I am not the main storyteller of any of this but i do know where the data is from 1946 since my dad helped eidt it and my grandad wrote up the legalese of india's independence

the economist is now owned primarily by the dagnelli family the economist 2 main editors between 1995-2014 are now both in new york- one editing bloomberg the other hired by rockefeller foundation to revitalise their belagio college in italy! amy knows the latter guy matthew bishop- through 1989 -1904 i gave these two men the main branding scoops which they called the year of the brand, the death of the brand and the death of brand management - they didnt fully understand the curriculum of avoiding fake media or valuing hi-trust networks - ian knows those sujects beter than  i do

billy reminds amy (from her 3rd day outside china) and everyone that all youth need to network is friendships

thanks chris

Javeed congrats on your progress - there are many moving parts to your questions, and other friends I am chatting with
- mostofa can answer your question on lucknow the world's 50000 kids school and only unesco peace curricula-
-for 10 years now in bangladesh mostofa and dads friends at japansee embassy in dhaka  have seen what sir fazle abed (sheika moza's first laureate and number 1 edujobs creator for poor girls wordlwide) at brac is doing and visited places like the founding family of lucknow city montessorri- he also knows people back in london like ian ;

for 5 years now amy has translated everything from a chinese girl students perspective- she's now at columbia uni ready to make new york connection- while camilo's primary focus is wall street fund for ending poverty in latin america he's also in the engineering group at columbia U- she/amy has been asked by sir fazle's family to keep them in touch with what chinese girls dream education can do as well as to facilitate large meetings a storytelling skill she is uniquely trained in

at we try to track the top 20 summits up to tokyo olympics impacting how 80 nations leaders invest in each others infrastructure, tech, education and youth's sustainability goals- jack ma has said that its only at the olympics that he will be able to start spending most of his time on how all the tech he connects is linked to education
india leadership next 2 summits are in june and involve investment in everything (working out education subgroups is where knowing the organsiers comes in) -  aiib 2018 is in mumbai june 25,26; it will bring 80 national finance delegations together; fortunately brits run the part of the bank that connects china and india; and do the interviews out of the London School of Economics of Guterres eminent 15 on both education future and bankings future- in the same month china hosts the sco summit where modi, jinping and putin discuss the futures of everything their tech wizards can connect

NB CHINA_INDIA IS TECHS BIGGEST MOVING PART IN 2018 - if edutech for a third of the world youth can connect modi and jinping dream then chances of sustainability jobs for all our youth go up from 10% to 70%- wise@UGA then bridges naturally with wise@paris match 2019 and worldtrade@beijing may 2019 - paris can be natural stage for redesigning edu curricula of green jobs and rehearsing olympics communities for all girls networks , how for example to replace the disgraced us girls gymnastics bureaucrats - moreover the most urgent conflict trading corridor uniting china and sino globalisation passes through bangladesh myamnmar through to singapore- the smartest national hub in the world for education and representing asean's  deperate interest to see india and china win-win

due to india elections in 2019 everyone of jinpings youth friends values understanding india win-wins is number 1 priority now

here are some things western people dont often understand about education in china

first every week jinping tells groups of researchers to get on with something and mooc its implications to 5th grade teachers so its impacts are social not just big corporate- see example at very bottom of this mail- china is desperately trying to turn web insto smartest education channel not the disgusting pornography and addiction channel of the western media

second china already has huge platforms to schools so 20000 students in remote vilages  and teachers can mooc live not just university monoply moocs

3rd china expects 5 million starups this year- ,mapping 8 meta-city hubs and how all of this moves to and fro is critical starting with all the hubs round tsinghua- this is the training university of the whole party - therefore since ednding poverty is the primary 3 year goal - every national strategy decision is also service examined for its community education consequences

4th guterres has said china can action network what he in new york can only chat about - hence sustainability goal science (the new bits of it being invenetd each year so not worth examining but worth youth action networks startupping) is connected out of jinping and through 80 national leaders who now trust jinping most to host winp-win world trade mapping across all hemispheres

amy, her chinese female peers  and i have put a lot of time into understanding the entrepreneur suburbs and open spaces inside tsinghua and wherever students meet outside  eg and china entrepreneurs meet eg cen - we would welcome an india partner in publishing leaflet on world record jobs creators we have started to publish in chiense and english

last weeks news from jinping and china scientis
Scientific researchers said China will focus on using science and innovation to boost the national economy and improve people’s lives in 2018.
Five top scientists from the fields of geological engineering, space, biomedical research and manufacturing industry spoke at a news conference hosted by the State Council Information Office on Jan 24.
The experts said that the key lies in turning research into products that will help boost the economy.
“The main challenge of clinical medicine research is the lack of a systematic training of personnel and management. Now the country has attached great importance to us, it’s a huge opportunity,” Jiang Lixin, vice president of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of medical sciences says.
“This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up, and is a crucial year for reaching the goal of building a moderately prosperous society by 2020,” Wan Gang, minister of Science and Technology, said earlier this month.
“China will strengthen its scientific research and innovation capabilities this year and turn research into products to help boost the economy,” said Wan.

Hello Chris

Good day

How are you doing? I have over a dozen small (below 1000 students), mid level (below 10,000 students) and major (above 10,000 students) all coming togather under a Consortium platform to implement the "Educate A Child" (EAC") program of the Qatar Foundations global educational agency called Education Above All (EAA). This is towards enrolling and educating Out Of School Children (OOSC).Total capacity of all institutions in the Consortium  is around 200,000 students. We have a few stumbling blocks that are obstructing the worl 1) there needs to be a matching grant equal to 50% from donor agencies. EAC will meet the other 50% (max of $100/child/project). 2) there needs to be a Lead organization with experience in OOSC which is willing to take responsibility. It needs to have the Foreign Regulations permission to receive money (FCRA approval) and must be willing to distribute and keep accounts of money disbursed to the Consortium members ( I am still unclear on this and waiting for clarification from the CEO of EAC, Dr Mary Pigozzi

I was told in my first meeting with Mr Fahd Al Sulethi, the CEO of EAA,  that a NY meeting was being planned to mark the finale of the 10 million childrens education goal that EAC had set. However in my second meeting, a week later, Mr Fahd Al Sulethi, was not sure if they could hold the meeting. They are looking at numbers and I think once the target is reached, they will hold the meeting ( so far the EAC is said to have reached a target of 7.5million out of thr target of 10M ).
When is the Mumbai meeting? What are the confirmed dates? Some of the Consortium members are based in Mumbai and they will happily assist towards  the success of the conference.

Warm wishes
Javeed Mirza

PS: I hope I can reach New York in a weeks time.. (my plans got changed as the work was in limbo and I could not leave).
Also, I am not connected to the Lucknow school. Please send me the contact info and I will talk to them. Thanks

camilo , rodrigo the politics between america and latin america are clearly very complex- they were awfully greenwashed during obama and of course worse during trump; this is really sad given chance for transformation while pope francis around hasnt yet been advanced one tad by any network in n america as far as i can search (over last 4 years with 2 visits to vatican)

it was paulo freire whose educational values built the whole of bangladesh  (knowhow china desperately needs now in its relationships with india) and was in effect awarded george soros' all time open society cultural values; it was the same values that inspired jim kim, paul farmer, ophelia dahl - indeed all health servants for the poorest and girls movement -in the whole of columbia university economists it is probably only professor phelps that china would still trust unless you can tell me who else

with the continent of americas losing all trust in rest of world - either g20 argentina or g7 canada needed to unite an americas poverty, big data small tech and green first network now- this doesnt come again

it would appear that china can trust deals it does with argentina, panama, and maybe mexico

many of the other main  countries keep flipping their politicians whil eshowing no inclusion transparency that i can find but then i dont speak the languages

- i am working the auditor of jinpings main development bank and with educators in latin am region who are trusted by china because they are not interested in any of above apart from staying out of the way
